Can get a compression test guage at any auto parts store, not expensive, but if you get one that threads in (match plug threads) you will be able to pull the start cord, hands free (with foot of motor in bucket of water- preventing impeller damage). The other type requires you to hold guage in the plug hole with one hand while pulling the start cord.
From the looks of the pics, plus having spark now, i don't think you have a problem under the flywheel, with the points - they look in good condition, and the flywheel key looks good also. I wouldn't worry about any of that.
Put the head back on, try to start, if still not running, then check compression.
