df115 drive shaft removal

I cracked my case on my lower unit and I am trying to remove all the parts from the case to sell. I can't loosen the bottom drive shaft nut. I know I need a special socket to clamp on the top of the drive shaft but don't want to spend $50 for the tool. Any one have any ideas.

I made a slide hammer from some scrap metal lying about worked like a charm
