  • DF150 wil not start

This is my first post here. I have a 2010 DF150 that until today has always run great. When I tried to start it today, nothing. no buzzer, no click, nada. I did install a fishfinder yesterday but I used the exact same connections as the old depthfinder.

I have no power to the gauges, radio or the remote trim but the local trim on the engine itself works. All accessory functions work normally including the new fish finder.

I have 12.75 volts at the battery, starter and at the main power breaker on the console.

I checked the kill switch and even bypassed it but no improvement.

All the breakers on the console are OK.

All the fuses under the console and on the engine are OK.

I tried starting it and moving the controls at the same time thinking maybe neutral postion switch, but no help.

I checked all the connections on the instruments and the wiring harnesses themselves and they are OK.

I am out of ideas. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Check the white wire under the console, which has a fuse. It supplies direct 12v power to the cpu, no power no nothing. You can pull the top off your motor and see where it runs by itself in front with the wire harness. It should be able to pull apart as they check amps there when the engine runs. Pulling that apart should allow you to check power at the motor.

That is the connection on my 07, 140, at any rate

Thanks Briscoe. I had read something similar to that somewhere and checked it. There is a white wire that runs by itsself into the wire bundle to the enfgine. I actually attached the ground to my fishfinder to the same connector that that one is on. Anyway, I looked everywhere and could not find a fuse in that wire, I even split the connector covers to make sure there wasn't one in there. There is a yellow fuse holder with a 15 Amp fuse and spare in it but I think that is on a yellow wire.

On the engine end right next to the main wiring connector is a white wire with a plug on it coming from the engine but no wire connected. I couldn't find a wire that was disconinected from it. That did concern me but since the engine has been running fine, I let it go.

        Fixed it thanks to Briscoe!!!

After reading my reply to Briscoe I relaized I had 2 problems.
1.I had a white wire that I did not know what it did, and

        2. I did not know how the engine knew when I had flipped the main breaker closed.

Well, after rereading wht Briscoe said and thinking about my problems s I realized that the white wire that I thought was a ground was the signal to the engine that power was on. I moved it to a switched hot connection and viola, it worked!!!!
