I recently had an issue with df40 4 stroke, it would not shift out of neutral and after removing the lower end and the top plate of the unit I noticed that the shift cam had snapped just below the secod notch on theback side. I removed the upper portion of the cam, but there is a small piece still lodged in the hole. I believe it is wedged between a little ball bearing that holds tension on the cam in the diff positions. I didn't know if this is normal or should it fall right out. It is down in a small hole and I am unable to grab it with anything. Do I need to remove propeller shaft assy. to replace this or should it fall right back into place if I am able to remove the broken piece. Any info on this repair would be greatly appreciated.
