A friend is about to purchase a boat with a pair of DF115's (2000 models) but both engines have had the computers replaced (the hour counters show about 900 hours - the check via the Tacometer says 1000rpm on one and 3500 on the other).
Taking the couling off, the manifolds look like they have gott'n quite hot and are a bronze color rather than that clean cast look (I have a DF115 at 600 hours and the manifold looks like new).
Is there anyway to visually ball park how much use these engines may have seen?
