  • charging 2 batterys with vsr

i have a 4-stroke outboard suzuki df140 . i need to charge 2 batteries. One will be used for house supply and the other will be used for starting the engine .i have a voltage sensitive rely (v.s.r). I require a wire from engine to the vsr. Can anybody give me tips from where i can get the supply to the vsr.

    battery solution

Just put a continous RV solinoid between the two batterys. When the eng runs both charge, when key is off only house battery is used.

I assume you are talking about a typical battery combiner, which is a relay that combines the batteries when it sees charging voltages and disconnects the batteries when charging voltage is not present. If your alternator is charging the house battery, the typical hook up is from the starting battery positive terminal to the relay and from the relay to the positive terminal on the house battery. There will also be a wire to one of the negative terminals, but since they are connected together, it doesn't matter which battery it comes off of. This wire is just to sense the voltage. The wire attached to the positive terminals must be able to carry the amperage that the alternator can put out so it will not be a fire hazard.
