DF140 Planing problem

Hello all,

I have an 03 DF140 on a 21 Sea Pro Gulf Model. It has trouble planing this boat and my thoughts are bc it is a little small for the boat. I am awaiting new injectors and just installed 9 x 12 trim tabs (everyone swears this will help). However, if this fails to fix the problem is there any other suggestions? For example, can a 175 or so Powerhead be installed in place of the 140?

If your motor is running right, you should be able to plane a 21' boat, if you have the correct prop. Do you know the pitch of the prop you are using? I am using a 17" pitch prop on my DF 140 pushing a 21' walk around with ease. A 19" pitch prop planed the boat but would not give normal wide open RPMs.

It has about 800 hours on it. I guess it could be getting wore out. My prop is a 13 x 17 4 blade solar.
