My 98 dt has a water pumping problem. There is a bunch of water coming out the exhaust port just below the block, but it just dribbles out the indicator. I have blown air through the indicator, thermostat port, and the water feed tube from the pump. All clear. Put a new impeller in, water pump housing, and thermostat. No change.
I have run the motor on a lake and no change. I ran at wot for about 5 minutes on the lake and no overheat alarm. I pulled the engine cover and the engine was hot, but not enough to burn me. I could leave my hand on the head, block, exhaust cover, so it is getting some flow. The other DTs I've been around seem to spary water continuously. I've seen other brands spray-stop-spray as their thermostat opens and closes, but not a DT. Now I'm stumped.
