  • Dt9.9 or Dt16?

    Good evening
Hi I'm new to your forum, first time posting. I recently purchased a Suzuki outboard to be used as a Auxiliary/Kicker on my 20' Alloy boat. (Diesel Inboard)
A purchased the motor from an auction which had it advertised as a 15hp Johnson/Evinrude, but you could tell straight off it was a Suzuki.
The motor has been repainted and I am unable to locate any serial numbers or identification. I want to bring this motor back up to near new condition as its no good having a flat spare Tyre.
From manuals available on line I have worked out it is either a Dt9.9 or Dt16?
year unknown at this stage. The motor is in its original blue color and has a shaft length of 22.5", A compression test yielded 40Lb in each cylinder but that was a dry test with the throttle closed. The Motor seems in good condition for its age but has suffered some minor surface rust due to neglect. The spark plugs are NGK BR7HS which doesn't make sense for either motor and does not give any clues to what it is.
Can someone shed any information to which model and year it is?
    Thanks

    Hi Again
I See my question must be a bit to vague.
I would like to know how you can tell the difference between a DT 9.9 and DT16 without the serial numbers. Is there markings on th head , Block or motor which give this away. On the Manual the Dt 9.9 and Dt16 have different part numbers, I just want to make sure I'm buying the right part.
    thanks
