Hi,
We have a 4-stroke 50 which has been an excellent buy and have had absolutely no problems until recently.
(1)We put the engine and AB dinghy into storage for 4 months and in doing so ran the fuel system dry as there is no referance to not doing so in the manual.
On launch-time it would not start and we found that the fuel pump had burned out.
The dealer replaced the entire manifold which contains the pump and ancilliaries at great cost-----is the pump available separately and what would cause the burn-out----does the gasoline lubricate the pump?
(2)Suddenly and without warning the buzzer in the control box has stopped buzzing----everything else works just fine. The connections are clean and tight and lubricated with Boeshield-----do buzzers go bad frequently?
(3)The engine has never been run in sand or shale but the water tell-tale blocks freqently and has to be unblocked----can we enlarge the hole a little without affecting the water flow or pressure? Can what is blocking the tell-tale have come from a factory coating in the water passages?
Excellent engine----well done,Suzy!
Thanks,
Gordon
