I have a lot of water in the gear oil of DT115. Pulled prop- seals look chewed up- bearing carrier won't come out (salt water engine). Any suggestions for getting the bearing carrier out? Can the seals be changed without pulling the bearing carrier? Thanks for your help.
New info: On a SW engine the bearing carrier can be VERY hard to get out of the lower unit, but in spite of Suzuki's instructions, the seals can be changed without pulling the carrier. Simply punch through the seals one at a time with a sharp screwdriver in 2 or 3 places, then with a hook, or bent over screwdriver blade, gently wiggle and pry the old ones out. Then clean out the bore in the bearing carrier, lightly grease the prop shaft, and press in the new seals with a piece of pipe so they don't cock. Presto- all done!
