  • DT-200 prop?

Have always run stainless three bladed props. Looking to try a four bladed prop? My three bladed prop is a 14 1/4 X 18. I should probably actually run a 19 because I'm able to reach max rev with a little throttle left. What is the best choice and what should I expect to get for my three three bladed props?

What boat are you running and how much does it weigh. My 5500 lb Sea ox with the 225 ran OK with the 20 at 5100 rpm but with the 18 I would blow it out of the water and hit the rev limiter easily. I have tried Dozens of different props...mostly 4 blades but I also tried the Mirage in a 17 and 19. I have settled on the Michigan Apollo 4 blade 18 pitch . I can cruise at 4000rpm at around 30-32 mph burning 10.5 gallons/hr and I can top out at just over 40 at 5100 burning about 21-22 gph. Almost any prop in the world will fit on the Suzuki shaft with a little bit of modification due to the cotter pin set up so your choices are almost unlimited. EVERY prop I have tried performed differently. Ebay is your friend

Thanks for the reply. I purchased a Power Tech OFS4R in an 18 pitch today. Traded all three of my stainless three bladed props and had to fork out another 225.00 bucks as well. I have high hopes for this new motor and prop.
I found a Suzuki dealer down in Olympia Wa. that had a brand new factory powerhead that had been sitting on a shelf for about ten years. He had a DT-200 that came into his possesion that had a bad powerhead. WHAALAA!
Last August I picked up the perfect piece of kelp that covered my cooling intake and the heat alarms failed. My DT-200 that I had cared for and loved for years seized.
So I now have two DT-200's that I combined to get the best of both. Spare parts can be a good thing. \
To answer your question on my boat. It's a 1986 21' 9" Glasply Marauder. It's one of the finest northwest fishing boats ever made. Hardtop with a stainless steel bracket on the back of it. You could have a dance in back of it theres so much room to fish from. It's 4500 pounds with fuel.

Hopefully i'm wrong, but I think that PowerTech is a 15 1/4 inch dia prop...if so, you went up an inch in dia and added a 4th blade? I don't think you will make rpm's BUT you are a good bit lighter than myself and you were hitting the rev limiter so it might work. Unfamiliar with the boat but it sounds nice. Let us know how it works out.

Jeff at Power Tech is quite the prop guy. He assured me with great confidence that this was "The Prop". We'll see? I can always exchange it?
