Have a DF115 the map sensor alarm 3beeps then 2 beeps occurs when the engine is in the water, it is difficult to start and will not idle. When ran with muffs with water hose starts every time and no map sensor alarm runs normal. Replaced map sensor same problem. Any suggestions appreciated.

Found the problem the engine holder has a hole around the exhaust plug. It is from a mfg defect using 2 different metals causing corrosion from inside out.
New Engine holder $900, tube of quiksteel putty $6.00 to fill in hole will update if repair holds up. So far seems to be stronger than what was there. If it doesn't hold up will probably disassemble and have a 1 inch aluminum plug welded in. Found a lot of posts on the internet with same problem same spot on Suzuki and Johnson Engines.Last edited by suzuki; 03-06-2011, 11:00 PM.

So far have taken boat out 7 times, ran for approx 16 hours with no problems at all. Engine operating normal, inspected repair site looks good.

map sensor
I was reading over your thread and think that I may have the same problem. I have not taken off the side cover to look at the exhaust hole to see if there is any corrosion but from what I read I suspect this is my problem. I have already put in a new IAC valve and tried a new MAP sensor but still have the same problem.
The boat idles and runs fine in the start. but once it gets warmed up (after 1mile of running or so) as soon as I back it down to idle speed the Check engine 32 beep comes on and the motor starts to idle very ruff and sometimes dies. Sometimes it gets to the point where I have to put it in neutral and give it gas to get it to start after dying.
I was wondering how hard is it to get that side panel off, and do you have any other suggestions to look at other than corrosion in the engine block/holder?
