  • 2001 df115 map sensor error

Have a DF115 the map sensor alarm 3beeps then 2 beeps occurs when the engine is in the water, it is difficult to start and will not idle. When ran with muffs with water hose starts every time and no map sensor alarm runs normal. Replaced map sensor same problem. Any suggestions appreciated.

Have you checked for corrosion around the oil pan as its very common. If ok have your IAC valve checked I had the same problem changed
IAC and reset air idle speed, no more error codes If you need more info send me a private message

Thanks for the reply I will check those 2 items probably this weekend. The engine currently has 130 hours on it.

Found the problem the engine holder has a hole around the exhaust plug. It is from a mfg defect using 2 different metals causing corrosion from inside out.
New Engine holder $900, tube of quiksteel putty $6.00 to fill in hole will update if repair holds up. So far seems to be stronger than what was there. If it doesn't hold up will probably disassemble and have a 1 inch aluminum plug welded in. Found a lot of posts on the internet with same problem same spot on Suzuki and Johnson Engines.

So far have taken boat out 7 times, ran for approx 16 hours with no problems at all. Engine operating normal, inspected repair site looks good.

              map sensor

I was reading over your thread and think that I may have the same problem. I have not taken off the side cover to look at the exhaust hole to see if there is any corrosion but from what I read I suspect this is my problem. I have already put in a new IAC valve and tried a new MAP sensor but still have the same problem.

The boat idles and runs fine in the start. but once it gets warmed up (after 1mile of running or so) as soon as I back it down to idle speed the Check engine 32 beep comes on and the motor starts to idle very ruff and sometimes dies. Sometimes it gets to the point where I have to put it in neutral and give it gas to get it to start after dying.

I was wondering how hard is it to get that side panel off, and do you have any other suggestions to look at other than corrosion in the engine block/holder?

its only a few 8mm screws holding the side covers together on the engine and the rubber ring around the top of it very easy to pull off.

                  Outdoors,

Sounds like u have the exhaust problem. Check it out and if it is, its possible to fix without consulting a mechanic. I fixed mine by tapping the whole and putting a brass plug in place with antiseize around it.

Hi Suzuki. I have the same problem on my 2003 DF115. Since your post was 4 years ago, could you please post how well your repair is holding?
