engine knock

I just purchased a 2007 250HP suzuki with a new power head
ran for 3 Hrs and it made a louder exhaust sound when I throttled back
from 3800 rpm to idle it had a bad knock in the head.
Has anyone experenced this type of problem it my be a push rod !!
