  • Problem with Suzuki 140hp interface cable

    Hi All
As a new member to this forum I was hoping somebody can help me with a problem I have been having for some time. I have a Suzuki 140hp 2005 model that I have connected with a blue networked cable from my motor to my lowrance 3300c. It used to show my data from my motor as an overlay screen allowing me to monitor engine performance. It has now stopped working and my lowrance network is now saying unknown network device. Has anybody experianced this problem before. I dont know if there is fault in the cable as I have upgraded all software on my lowrance unit and it seems to be working fine.

    Suzi interface isues

    Hi Barra!

With a name like that maybe you're an Aussie too?

A couple of suggestions re your problem.

Maybe upgrading the Lowrance software has reset it all to factory settings, and you have to re-install and calibrate the interface. I'd switch everything off, then turn the Lowrance on, when it has fired up then turn the Suzuki key to on (but not start the engine) so that the interface is then live. Then go to the network menu and see if you can see the interface listed, and if so, try to calibrate it as if it was a new installation.

If that doesnt work, next check the cables from one end to the other, and especially the network power supply fuse unit. Make sure no damage to any cables, none that have rubbed thru and thus compromised.

Also, it could be as simple as the fuse holder having some corrosion on the contacts and not getting a good quality power supply to the network. So check that, check the fuse itself, and fix if necessary.

If that doesnt work, unplug all joints in the network, check for corrosion, spray with electronic contact cleaner spray, and push back together, and try again.

I also have what I believe to be the latest software update for the interface cable. (Yes, the interface cable does have software installed on it that interprets the Suzuuki signals so that they can be read properly on NMEA 2000 networks.) It is possible that with the Lowrance 3300 having been upgraded to the latest Lowrance software version, it is now not "talking" to the interface with old software on it.

It is pretty easy to update the interface software - if you want a copy PM me with your home email address and I'll send it to you with some instructions.

If all that fails, then I'm at a loss and I'd suggest you then put a post onto the Lowrance facebook page and see if they can offer any help.

    Cheers

    ML
