DF2.5 gear problem??

I recently took over a rarely used df2.5 purchased new early 2008. I was very pleased when it started first time, having not been used for 6 months, but when engaging the gear, the propellor hardly turns and provides no thrust at all. I removed and checked the shear pin, which is intact. I would appreciate any suggestions as to what I should check next or what the problem might be.

have you checked the oil in the gearbox???? if yes you might have a drive shaft problem in the powerhead being corroded... try to remove the gearbox and check if it comes off easy otherwise you must pry it off with levers. this will eliminate that there is a problem on powerhead side of things...

thanks for the suggestions. I checked the gear oil which clean and plentiful. propeller spins freely, so it doesn't appear to be a lube problem. it just doesn't seem to fully engage when shifting from neutral...

There's no prob with the gear box or the oil. The prob is the gears are not engaging properly... Can help you but will have check for possible solution..
