  • DF300 ECM Failure

I lost data to our MDF and the old smis suszuki / lowrance gauge for port engine ( 2010 model 1400 hrs ) and eventually would not restart. After checking through all normal problem causers with respected mobile mechanic, it was determined we had a bad ECM - it was swapped with stbd engine ECM and got the engine to operate.

With the age of this engine and value vs cost of new ECM I have sourced a used matching ECM , if I proceed with used unit what obstacles will I have getting port engine to respond correctly with my electronic controls , gauge and current twin setup - thanks for any advice and past experiences.

Are you 100% certain that the ecu was the problem? The symptoms you describe could equally have been caused by a failed engine interface cable.

Did you try the allegedly failed ecu on the other engine to confirm its failure? Or conduct other tests that gave results proving its failure? Did this engine have a history of IAC valve failures, as that can cause ecu burnouts too?

Anyway, if you replace the ecu you will then need to unconfigure and reconfigure the interface cable for that engine to get it to communicated with the network/gauges.

As far as pairing it with the controls etc sorry I cant advise about that.
