May seem a ridiculous question, has a 1982 dt5 have a thermostat, if yes where is it located.

I looked on the parts page for all dt5 motors, and didn't find any reference or part listing on a thermostat for that motor?
You should probably contact the dealership and ask them, and where it's located if it has one? The actual service manual, or parts store for your motor may have a better parts break-down or list than these online pages.
Generally, a thermostat is located at the top of the cylinder head near/around the top of the exhaust cover, as water flows up through the exhaust then through the cylinder head and around the cylinder(s).

Cylinder head has no bolt on parts , have checked with a marine engineer and his reply was. NO THERMOSTAT!
My problem is where the motor is at present, some 50 miles away, still have the winter to work on it. I did attach water li e to pipe I side leg full flow so head I hope is OK.
