Suzuki DF50 idling issues

My 2005 Df 50 which I just purchased has an interesting problem.
It starts, idles fine with the cowling off, but with the cowling on it will slow down, drop a cylinder, or misfire and almost stall. Remove the cowl and it cleans up and idles properly.
The compression measures 144, 141, 144.
Anyone have this issue?

Air intake in cowl blocked? Maybe an animal of some kind has made a nest in there!

Thanks Moonlighter. We obviously think the same way. Pesky varmints!!
I did check that, and even removed the baffle.
