I have tried both round and rectangle muffs. The round muff tends to slide out of place while the motor is running. The rectangle never worked for my old DF250 or the new 300. I like to run my motor to flush rather than use the water hose port. Is there a particular brand motor flusher that works better than others for a DF300?

Couple of threads that deal with flushing
I have a 175hp -mechanic told me he needed to put two sets of muffs on to run while working on engine
in front of the usual screened intakes there are a couple of holes.. When you put the muffs on, you will notice the water flowing out these holes.
IF you are going to run off the hose and muffs, you need to either block these holes or put a second set of muffs.
in practical sense, there is no need to run the engine to flush it of salt water.
the water hose port on the side is where the water flows through before going directly to the power head. every part of the engine that needs flushed is done from this source.
as stated in the manual, do not run the engine using this hose port. You will ruin the impeller if you do so.
