1988 DT85 has weak or intermittent spark. Can oil tank delete cause this if sensor is not bypassed correctly? Does it need to sense oil or oil level to run as far as electrical connections?
All coils and such test okay. Additional questions:
If I disconnect the main connector and try to start by jumping the starter solenoid, does this bypass the kill switch and rule that out? If ruled out bad kill switch and still weak spark, would it be CDI issue? My thnking is that either kill switch or oil sensor would be arresting the spark by grounding the CDI. Is this possible?
Lastly, I see a engine temp sensor in the CDI box that threads into the block, as well as a rear water level sensor. Is there a third sensor that measures exhaust? I had seen one online for sale. If so, is that exhaust or water temp sensor needed to make spark?
I am at my wits end here. Any help is appreciated greatly.
