  • DF200 engine cutting out

    hi guys

    I've got a 2011 DF 200 with about 150 hours on it.

I'm having intermittent issues with the motor, it seems to cut out randomly with no engines lights displaying when it does cuts out. The best way to describe what happens is it mimics the outcome of pulling the kill switch off.

It cuts out at various rpm's and on various water conditions. Mechanics can't seem to find out what's wrong with it. Sometimes when I take the boat out it won't cut out at all other times it will cut out 3 or 4 times and won't give trouble for the rest of the time. The engine will restart each time every time after cutting out.

    Any help is much appreciated.

    Cheers

Lately I'v seen a kill switch key that was a little thin (not original). It worked when the customer put it in at home but when bouncing over the waves the motor sometimes switched off. After a lot of searching we replaced the key with an original one and the problem never showed up again.

Hey - hopefully you'll see this. Did you ever get your engine repaired? I have the same motor (year and everything) and am having the same problems.

        Anyone else have any ideas?

Did you verify the white wire issue? It is very very very common. Actually happened to me this past weekend. Motor was working then it stopped. Then it started working again...

Went over everything I could think of and then found the sticky up top. Removed the perko for the motor that was acting up and when fiddled with the wire it was arching. Found the connection was loose to the switch. Cleaned everything up and tightened everything down, and I was back to reliably running. Once you lose power to that wire, the engine shuts down.

Also thought that Hoosmastroos post was interesting. If not the key, maybe it is loose behind the kill switch. The only other thing that I could think of is possibly an ECM issue.
