  • SMG4 Gauge "Fuel Used" reading

    Brand new Suzuki DF140BG w/ SMG4 gauge
Today I began the 10hr break-in period after picking boat up (repower).
Very sweet engine and gauge appears to be user friendly and simple enough.
Fuel tank appears to be set up correctly, tank size is correct and the correct sender 240 - 33 ohms
I reset the "total fuel used" to zero (held reset and it beeped)
I completed the first 3 hrs of the break-in period and the total fuel used never moved from zero
Everything else appears to be working correctly, it even showed the varying gph throughout the day, just nothing for "fuel used"
    Thoughts?

Set the fuel used/fuel remaining source?

SMG4 only reports fuel used as a figure. It doesnt show fuel remaining.

Unlike other digital gauges its connected directly to the engine harness/bcm. So there is no data source to set as its not working via a NMEA2000 network.

In the SMG’s home page, does the engine show its location as CENTRE?

If not the gauge hasnt been set up correctly and needs to be done in initial settings. Or, take it back to the dealer who installed it and get them to fix it.

Setting the tank capacity on SMG4 has nothing to do with getting correct fuel used figures. Its just for the calibration of the tank level from the sender.

I will check on the "centre" setting

well, i rode the boat yesterday for about 3 hrs and reset the "total fuel used" at the launch.
I was surprised to see it show 1gal after awhile and then later saw 3 gal total used.
          Looks like it started working
Question, does it just show whole numbers and not partial/10ths? IE: only show 1 gal vs, 1.4gal
