...just did a maiden run with a 16' skiff and a new DF30A set up w/electric tilt & remote control. After a while of not being able to start the engine, I noticed during start up that when switching the gear lever from forward to neutral, and then turning on the ignition switch to start the engine, nothing happens (except for the beep, but no turnover). However, when the shift lever is in reverse and moved to neutral from that position, it will start up no problem every time. Also, the manual pull won't work/start up the engine at all. In addition, the electric button on the engine itself does nothing. This is a new engine. Any thoughts, ideas in diagnosing this problem would be helpful.

First, it should still be under warranty, The dealer should be able to make the proper adjustments
From what you describe, it sounds like the neutral switch is slightly out of adjustment.
The neutral switch prevents the engine from starting while in gear.
The fact that the electric start and pull start are not working indicates, again, the neutral switch is locking them out..
