bought what i think is a dt65 1997 no controls no loom serial number 462037 i have wired up battery cables found the yellow with green start wire when i spin it it has spark so my question is what colour is the kill wire in the 7 pin round connector i have the following colours black = ground yellow green stripe = starter motor orange=choke yellow/black stripe =? blue/red stripe =? blue/white stripe=? i have sussed the power trim and tilt just want a way of stopping the beast

If this has the same wiring schematic as later model engines
the white wire that feeds power to the key switch.
the key switch interrupts the power to the ECM - no power to the ECM and the engine stops

ive got a white with red stripe that feeds cdi unit hooked onto main battery cable at starter same wire piggy backs to 8 pin connector for power to key and starter wire but thats yellow and green the coils are fed off the stator so ground to stop pretty sure disconecting the battery power will have no effect i think its the blue with red stripe that goes 2 ground to kill itComment
