  • SMG 4 gauge problem

I Just switched from a 2007 DF200 V6 mechanical to a 2021 DF200A Mechanical and having problems hooking up the new gauge. I have a 34000-96L43 gauge with 36661-96L30 cable and 36001-88L00 kit. When I hook it up like the diagram on page 15 of the 2021 Rigging guide the gauge does not power on. I even tried another gauge and still the same problem.
Help please. Spoken to several Suzuki mechanics and all have different suggestions none of them work. It would seem to me I have to provide power to the gauge somehow.

First question - did you install a completely new harness and throttle box etc with the new engine? Or did you re-use some of the old harness?

It is the old harness from the 2007.

I think that may be the issue, which is why I asked.

Harnesses older than 2012 couldn’t even be used to send data to the dash for the older engine interface based systems.

Apart from anything else an old harness will have almost certainly degraded to at least some extent and they need to be in top condition to run with modern engines and gauges.

I know they also made other changes.

If you want to check further, look up your old 2007 engine on the “Buy Suzuki parts” section on this forum, locate the main harness and see what engines its compatible with. This will tell you if that harness is compatible with a current year engine.

Moonlighter, in a previous iteration Suzuki shows a harness connecting to 12volt power. In my experience the gauges usually need 12 volt to power on the gauge. My question is in this iteration is the gauge getting the power through the engine harness if so how? If the grey wire is power and the yellow data how is 12volts travelling through the harness on such a small gauge wire? I looked into the harness like you suggested and it should work. I will try another harness tomorrow and see if that works.

Looks like it is the wrong harness. Picking up the right one tomorrow. Will update when I know more.

Yes it was pretty simple. It was not the harness. All I had to do was plug the sds plug in at the motor. The motors still come from the factory set up to plug in to analog not digital.
