  • How many hours

I have a 2010 DF90A on a flatscat. I just got the engine interfaced with the Simrad GO9 (thanks Moonlighter for all the help) and it now has 352.30 hours on it. How many hours do these motors run?? I try to keep up with all maintenance (oil changes, gear oil changes, plugs impeller ECT....) but for some reason I am off schedule with the computer prompts for an oil change (probably because when I got it from my dad a year ago I changed engine gear oil plugs and both fuel filters and didn't reset the oil change on the computer). What hours are y'all getting with proper maintenance?

Chris, its a difficult question. So many variables .......

With regular use and good servicing including checking and changing anodes, I have heard of engines used by pro fishers getting several thousand hours, up to 8000 in one case my dealer told me about a pro fisher he deals with. Engine was returned to Suzuki HQ, stripped down, checked and put back together and sold on to a rec guy, and still in use 3 years later.

In a recreational fishing setting, 10-15 years would be quite feasible. I have friends with Suzuki 4 strokes bought in 2005 that are still going strong with 1500-2000 hours on them.

40-100 for most recreational fishers here in Aus.

May be different in your area due to distances to fishing grounds and whether style of fishing includes hours of trolling.

I repowered my catamaran in 2015, orginal Df 115 's which I think is basically the same as DF90, the engines were 14 yrs old with 2200 hrs and still running strong. The guy I sold them to is still running them . I repowered with same engines
