Hoping someone can help before resorting to a last option. My boat has been out of the water for a couple of months now and I have gone to take the cowling off but it is stuck. The outboard has a single release lever at the rear which pulls out but I can't rotate it upwards to release the catch inside. I have sprayed with WD40 with no luck. As the handle is made of plastic I don't want to force it too much in case it breaks. My mechanic is suggesting drilling out the 3 pins that hold the mechanism inside the cowling, but I'm wondering if there is a better alternative to try first. Any ideas?
