Asking here. Why can't or shouldn't I drill and tap the thermostat housing to put a temperature sensor there? The housing is not part of the main block, so If you mess up....just pick a new one of fleabay. I would think that would be a good spot, since the water pressure and temperature has to ramp up in order for the thermostat to active and allow water to exit and cool.
I know it's not a Suzuki , but on an old Yanmar powered sailboat that I used to have...that is where the sensor was. The piciture is from a V6, but for I-4 ,it should be more or less the same.
