  • Prop bearing housing

Removed the prop on my DF175 to check for fishing line and to lube the splines and have noticed that there is the word UP cast into the bearing housing. But on mine the word is upside down at the bottom. My questions are does it matter which way this is - what difference does it make - given that I have done over 200 hrs since I bought the boat second hand does it matter. Photos attached.

      Drain

It got the better of me so I removed the prop shaft housing and the reason that the housing has to be installed UP the right way is because there is a drain back from the outside needle rollers back to the gear case. I would assume this is so the shaft seals don't get loaded up with oil. So will I replace the "o" ring and shaft seals and re assemble the correct way.

        I will

That was not a question I meant to say "I will replace the "O" ring and seals and reinstall the correct way up.

Glad I saw this post.I did see a groove inside the housing, which made me wonder.
