Should white wire connect to battery and starter?

I just recently purchased a used boat that has an 07 DF140. I have been having issues that sound like a white wire. I have read through the stickies and posts, but looked at how mine is hooked up and I have found the white wire connected to the positive battery post and also on the starter Should it be like this? How can I wire this correctly?

The best way would be to have the white wire connected to the battery switch and not the starter.

as a new owner I would recommend picking up a service manual it will answer a lot of questions.

basically you wire a white wire off the battery switch and splice it into the white wire. removing the section that is wired to the starter.
