this engine drives me crazy. I can be sitting fishing a spot for an hr with the motor off. When i turn it on, sometimes within a few seconds the temp sensor will flash and i will get a few beeps. I know it is not hot since it has been sitting. When i run it, I can get up on plane and sometimes it will run for 30 minutes before i get a temp alarm and it shuts me down. Sometimes it happens immediately. I have replaced the thermostat, and just had the water pump replaced. This last trip i noticed i was sucking air in the fuel line near the bulb. i am about to replace that. I don't think so, but would that be contributing to this problem? What should i look at next? Thanks for any help!

check your temp sensor. apparently it is not reading correctly, or the wiring to the sensor is damaged.
the fuel line wont turn the temp light on.

Not sure for this engine but most likely the overheat sensor is a bi-metal sensor. Sometimes they stuck inside. Find that sensor and disconnect it. If the error has gone then replace the sensor.Regards, Martin

Thanks for the replies. So if I just unplug the temp sensor and run it, how would i know if something else is not causing it to go off?Comment

That is a water temp sensor, do you have any 2 wire sensors around top 2 spark plugs, in the cylinder head?
