  • 2013 DF250 4 Stroke stalling out

I have a DF250 and it has never caused me any concern until recently. As I have read many times, the scenario is as follows.
Initial startup and run is fine. 5200 RPM for approximately 10 to 15 minutes. Turn motor off for 30 minutes to an hour.
    Starts fine after shutdown.
Get the boat on plane and engine cuts out for no apparent reason.
Get the 3 beeps from tachometer/monitor system. According to my manual this is an "Engine Stalling" warning.
    Primer bulb is not hard.
Squeeze bulb a few times and engine starts. May run all day after that or it did stall out a few times after squeezing the primer bulb. It was hot that day, 100 degrees but calm water - inland reservoir. Changed primer bulb and water/fuel separator filter. Same result next day. I fueled up after that 2nd try with non ethanol fuel and ran boat on smaller lake but only around 4000 rpm due to speed limit on lake and only about 75 degrees ambient. Everything ran fine. Very puzzled on this one. Any words of wisdom out there? Thanks.

You changed the primer bulb but did you also check the fuel lines? There could be a leak in the connections causing it to run out of fuel. When you check the lines, disconnect one and check also the inside of the lines. They are disintegrating over time.

Your motor runs 2 fuel pumps (besides the primer) and several filters all on the motor.

There is also likely a filter screen on the end of the pick up hose in the tank. The low pressure pump draws fuel from the tank and pumps it into a tiny tank through a float valve (like a carb does) where the high pressure pump is housed and it sends fuel to the injectors.. Any restriction between the bottom of the fuel tank and the low pressure pump will cause the bowl the high pressure pump is in to run low and suck air which is an instant miss or stall for the motor.. The little tank with the HP pump also has 2 filters but they _should_ be clean.

Any restriction or air leak between tank and LP pump would cause big issues..
