I’m having some shifting problem with my 08 df25. I seen something similar to this on here from awhile back but idk if it’ll help yet or not. But when I start the motor, sitting in neutral, it’s clinking like it’s half way in foward gear. I put it in reverse and it acts like it’s in neutral, I put it in forward and it starts bogging down while in forward gear. The Rod isn’t bent and the linkage in the middle has been messed with. But I’ve adjusted it up and down a few times. Right now the foot is off of it because I’m replacing the water pump but I hope to get it back on and tinker with it now. While I’m on the water pump, I thought it needed replaced because it wasn’t pissing any. No trash is in the house. So I removed the foot and the water pump impeller is still pretty decent but you can see where the impeller housing is some what melted and “scared”, if you will, from the impeller. It’s like where the impeller road against the housing. Is that normal. I’m replacing the impeller just in case and just cuz the foot is now off. It hasn’t been replaced in years anyway. Thanks.

The impeller should not come in contact with the housing, The impeller will come in contact with Part #2. The metal base plate(part #5) and metal cup(part #2) will be polished up but shouldn’t have any melted rubber on it unless the engine was run out of water. Water is the only lubricant so when you install the new impeller apply some grease to the impeller contact points to help with the initial start up.

Suzuki sells a complete water pump kit replacement and it is recommended that you replace all the parts listed (Part # 18) On my engine Part #2 is included as part of the kit, yours Part #2 isn’t, I wonder why?
Sorry, can’t help you with the shift rod issues, hopefully someone else will chime in.
