I started having an issue last week on my 150hp. I did not have any codes at the time. I was under load (Pulling a wakerboarder) and the boat started to loss power if I went over say ~3000 RPM. It would try to regain so it felt very jerky and jumpy. After shutting it off and turning it back on I did get a check engine code and i Thought, i'm not 100%, it was code 3-3, which is I believe is the neutral safety switch on the engine.
I did find a pretty large birds nest, eggs, and a couple dead birds in the cover. No idea they were there. I took off the cover and the small metal screen over the air intake did not look that bad.
I took it back out for 15-20 and ran it hard with no issues. I thought it was the air intake clogged from the nests.
An hour later I took it back out and within 4 minutes the same thing started happening again. Loss of power and check engine light.
This weekend I was going to run it again and make sure the code is correct.
