  • Power tilt on DF9.9T

I have a 2008 DF9.9 T/T H Suzuki motor with power tilt and it won't stay in the position that I set it at.Itw will go up and down with the switch but it will slowly drift down when moving the boat forward

    Is part #2 tight?

I haven't had the cylinder apart yet because I'm not familiar with the system and don't want to create more problems untill I'm sure what parts are available. I'm seeing that part#2 is no longer available because it is obsolete.

Part #2 above is a manual release for the tilt/trim, accessible from the outside. This screw allows manual tilting should the tilt motor fail. If for some reason it is a wee bit loose it could loose pressure. While your down there how’s the tilt cylinder oil level? Any visible leaks I presume not otherwise you would have mentioned it.

No leaks until I loosened off what I thought was the filler cap at the top of the unit. When I tightened it back up it cut a piece of the O ring off.Turns out that it is a pressure relief valve?

I haven't been able to find a replacement O ring for that valve.I'm also not sure where to add the oil and if I do it will leak out whenever the motor is in the down position.

I THINK part 8 is where you check/add oil. I would suggest you get yourself a genuine Suzuki service manual before you get too deep into it. There is a lot going on inside those tilt/trim cylinders.

Thanx I will definitely look into that.As a former truck and coach mechanic, I have worked on hydrolic systems but never on a small integrated unit as this. Thanks again for all your time and help Murry. It has definitely helped.
