As far as I have been able to establish, the caution system is supposed to kick in the over revolution limiter with the light and buzzer at 7000rpm on the DF50A (or possibly at 6500). But not at 6000rpm and not in the erratic way that can be seen and heard in the clip I share here: https://www.icloud.com/iclouddrive/0...rkNMw#over_rev . Notice how the light blinks. Anybody have any idea what could cause this? If I do push the throttle all the way I do get the normal behaviour of the buzzer and the limiter actually revving the engine all the way down.

Seems that it is hitting the rev limiter. At about 6300 rpm. Which is perhaps 100rpm, give or take, lower than expected.
7000 is incorrect, its usually about 6400rpm on most Suzukis, although it can vary by model/year.
Analogue tachos can often be reading slightly incorrectly, it is not unexpected or unusual to be up to a couple hundred rpm off. So that could easily explain the issue.
I do see some differences between my analogue tach readings and what my digital rpm data says from the ecu. The ecu data is the accurate one. If you have access to the SDS software or have the engine networked to a chartplotter like I do, then you could check so see the differences yourself.
Anyway, the engine is clearly underpropped if it is easily hitting the rev limiter. You should change props and select one with some more pitch, with the aim of getting one that allows the engine to just reach 6000rpm at WOT.
