  • Engine Revving When Accelerating

I first want to thank everyone for your help. Being a new Suzuki owner its been quite a transition. I have finally finished hooking up motor. Started it and it idles fine. Starts right up. When I accelerate and hold it in place it revs on its own. Is it not get fuel consistently? Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Dan

You mean it's surging up and down in RPMs? On the muffs, or in the water? In gear? A little more definition, please.

Dan! at what rev range are you talking about. It could possibly be in safe or limp mode if you are taking the revs over 3000 RPM

Also 4strokes are designed not to rev over 3000 in neutral so revving it past that on the hose doesn't mean anything is wrong.

          similar problem perhaps

I have a [perhaps] similar issue with my 300s. I originally had 2008 models, with all the "bells and whistles". I noticed that while cruising, particularly running offshore in slop, the engines would rev/race ahead, then slow back down to the original cruising speed. I just repowered with new 300s, and during the first ride yesterday, I noticed the engines were doing the same thing, except in very calm conditions. First time it happened it raced from 2900 RPMs to close to 4000. I did not change out anything with the repower except the engines, the gauges and some of the harness connections. Mechanic suspects control box. Any other thoughts? Many thanks in advance.
