  • 2003 DF 115 overheating

Just bought this 2003 DF 115 four stroke. Only 60 hours when I bought it a couple months ago. Ran great for the first weekend we had it in the water. This past weekend, I started getting an occasional overheat light that grew steadily worse. I now get the overheat light immediately when I turn the key to the "on" position before I even crank the engine. I'm guessing it's a bad sensor or thermostat since the overheat light comes on before I even crank the engine. Thoughts??

Chad, are you saying the overheat light is coming on when you turn key? does it stay on or does go out with the other two ie: over rev limit and check engine lights.

Could be the temp sensor. Locate it, remove the cable and check again. If the light stays out the the sensor is your problem.

        Sounds like a bad sensor
However with the age even with very few hours the waterpunp impellors need replacing
They are compressed inside the housing and lose their flexibility and pumping ability
