  • LP fuel pump

Had an issue with 225 Suzuki 2006. LP fuel pump would not loose prime after being run and the shut off for about and hour. Would prime with primer ball and would run the rest of the time. I just replaced the LP fuel pump and it runs for about 5 seconds and shuts off. I rehooked the old one and it does the same. What am I missing. Is there a sensor that could be going out? Please help would love to be on the water this weekend.

not familiar with the larger hp models but ask the question re LP fuel pump.
my 175 the lp fuel pump is mechanical
when you say your lp fuel pump runs for 5 seconds- are you sure that is not the HP fuel pump charging the fuel rail?

as far as losing prime check to be sure your connections from the fuel tank to the LP fuel pump are air tight. the other thing is the fuel bulb -- I just replaced mine also a 2006 model.. leaking air at ends as seals went bad
produced problems similar to what you described

Thank you for the response. It was an air leak in the fuel bulb. I also learned from one of my younger friends that told me that the LP pump only runs for about 5 seconds. I thought it filled a sump that the HP pump worked out of. Never to old to learn.

I think your friend needs a lesson on how the system works.
