  • C-10 gauge speed is off

So my c-10 gauge reads double what my gps reads. Gps reads 30mph and c-10 reads 60 mph. The dept on the gps reads the same on the c-10( dept on god 10ft, c-10 says10ft) I have tried resetting the c-10 but no difference.does anyone know how to fix this?
Engine is df150gtx and machine is lowrance elite 7hdi

The Elite hdi does not have engine data pages - where it can show a virtual dashboard.

Where I am going wth this is that the Elite hdi series have very limited NMEA2000 capabilities and do not actually output the full range of data to the network - including not outputting GPS data in a useable format - and this is likely be the reason that your C-10 is displaying incorrect speed. It isnt a problem with the C-10.

You should understand that the C-10 is very much a dumb display - it just shows data that it gets from other sources - in the case of ground speed, it is just showing what it is receiving from a GPS on the network - and if its getting bad speed data from that Elite hdi, it will show that bad data on its screen.

Edit: I just checked a online manual and those earlier Elite hdi versions also dont have engine data display pages. Their promo material says something like "advanced NMEA2000 capabilities", but in fact it is very limited - pretty much only to accept GPS data from an external antenna.

The newer Elite ti models however, have full functionality.

It's strange because everything else matches between the elite and the c-10 (dept, temp, gps coordinates). I guess I'll stick to gph and do the math.

Or you could get a NMeA2000 GPS puck antenna to add to your network.

Its very hit and miss with those Elite hdi units as to what data they send over the network.
