  • SMG4 wifi NMEA 2000 capability

I just had the SMG4 gauge installed on my 2020 Suzuki 200.

My GPS is not NMEA2000 compatible. Is there any way to send GPS data from my iPhone to the SMG4 wirelessly? I see there are NMEA2000 apps for the iPhone but don't know if the gauge can receive that.

No, SMG4 does not have wifi or bluetooth.

Buy a GPS puck antenna and attach both it and the SMG4 to a simple NMEA2000 network. Problem solved.

Great - thanks for the input. Any idea the type of cable or input connection is needed for the SMPG4?

You will need to create a simple NMEA2000 backbone.

Buy a “NMEA2000 starter kit” they have everything you will need. About $70. Navico, Garmin and others make them, they are much of a muchness.

The kit includes a couple of NMEA drop cables.

Use one of them to connect to the NMEA2000 plug on the SMG4 and the other end goes to one of the T’s in the backbone.

The NMEA2000 GPS puck antenna probably comes with a drop cable of its own, and hopefully a T piece too. But anyway you can use the other drop cable from the kit to connect the antenna to a second T piece on the backbone. The third T piece is used to connect power to the backbone itself.
