Novice needs Help! While reinstalling my lower unit after servicing the water pump, somehow I've sprung a leak and have engine oil draining all over. Mostly down the shift shaft. It's a lot of oil. What could I have possibly done? The lower went off and on with some difficulty due to the mid shaft bushing but was all lined up and as I was tightening the bolts I did hear a faint flick of a sound, then the oil. Thanks!

Could be that your oil seals have failed in the engine holder section of your motor, I have a similar problem on my 2018 DF90A but only lost a retention spring of one of the three seals when I pulled the lower unit, having a hard time getting this repaired it's a warranty repair 4 me.Comment

From what I've been able to gather from across the web it looks like I've likely punctured my oil pan with the shift shaft...Comment
