  • Oil in Auxiliary Exhaust

    Hello,
This is my first time to post on this forum. I have searched for a solution for this problem for a day or so but nothing quite matches my issue.

I have a pair of 2006 DF175s with about 500hrs on them. They have run great since I have the boat. We took a fishing trip Saturday for about 5-6 hours with no issues. Lifted the boat and tilted the motors up overnight. I usually always store with the motors down.

On Sunday I tried to start the motors the port motor wouldn't start with out giving it some throttle but then wouldn't idle. I am fairly certain this a filter issue. The stbd motor started and ran normal but then I noticed oil seeping out of the auxiliary exhaust port on the back. It had only been running for about 10 minutes or so. No alarms, no smoke, just normal sounding operation.

I started the motor later that day and did not see any oil leaking. Could this just be a result of the motor being tilted overnight or is there a bigger problem here. How could the oil get into this exhaust pipe?

    Thanks in advance.

    Update:
Got the boat off the lift and on the trailer today to get a look at this oil leak.
I found that its coming from a hole in the oil filter. It looks like a crimp or dent in the case of the filter corroded out. Anyway, the oil was flowing down mid cowling around the rubber strip and exiting the cowling at the aux exhaust port.

Now Im gonna track down this issue with not starting or idling on the other motor.

Where is the best place to get the maintenance kit?

boats.net has the best Suzuki prices on parts that I've found. The won't idle issue sounds like IAC valve.
