I want to reprop with a Merc SpitFire. The small props have the Flo-Torq 1 rubber "old style" pressed in hubs. There are NO hubs of any kind available for any prop under 40hp from Merc. SO I am on my own on custom retrofit. I think they are both 3.5 inch gearbox and prop?? Still need to confirm. 25hp is 3.5 and 20 hp is 3 inch?
From what I read the Merc/Yamaha hubs work together and the Suzuki/OMC work together. My Motor has a 10 spline shaft. I am gambling it will fit a 10 spline OMC hub.?? Anyone know....any prop repair guys here?
So it looks as if I need to find a small prop OMC hub (10 spline), BUT I am wondering if the new OMC style rubber hub can be made to fit right in the small Merc SpiteFire prop?
My boat is a 94 14.2 ft Lund Rebel with a floor and front casting deck. 450lbs and the 2017 Suzuki 25hp t&t long shaft. The motor came with a stamped prop saying 10 1/4 X 10 pitch. 3 blade The prop has zero cupping, flat as the salt flats. My Tiny Tach with 2 people and a 55 deg day with 4 hours on the motor says 5975 trimmed/max and 5750 tucked under. The motor has a 6,000 redline (30 hp has 6,300 redline). The motor has a BIA speced mounting bracket like say a 50 hp would have. I am setup on the lowest bolt hole so the highest the motor will go. My cav plate is even with the bottom of the boat.
So it looks as if most people who can put Spitrfires on after taking 3 blade BlackMaxs off are pitched the same. So my only choice would be Mercs SpiteFire 9.3 diameter x 9.5 pitch. add 90 deg day and I should get some more rpms by a less diameter and be proped about right or close I would est.
A Solna is my last resort, after I exhaust this possibility.
So any ideas if I can get an new OMC or new Suzuki rubber hub into the rubber press-in hubed small SpiteFire??
