Can I run DF50 with stator unhooked (bad rectifier)?

My rectifier is bad and it will take around 20 days to reach or ao. I was wondering if I could run (short runs, of about 20 min go and 20min back) without the rectifier, by unhooking it to the stator and from the wire that goes to the battery.
basically i would be running out of the battery, but can stator be damaged any how??
