Suzuki Gauge 34000-96L41

Hello Guys...i really need your help!

Cable 36661-96L10 is connected to Gauge 34000-96L41, but i can't figure how to connect further to SMIS network.



On number 1 is connected gauge, on number 4 is connected 36663-98J10 ACTIVE HUB PWRH to 3pin DT connector.

If i connect number 2 to engine diagnostic connector SDS and number 3 to trim connector to engine I get RPM on gauge from engine. But they write me many errors in diagnostic. But then i don't know where to connect Engine Interface SMIS 2.8 if i connect number 2 to SDS?

Did you get any instructions or an installation manual with this gauge? Did you read it? You really must read it, because it is completely different to previous SMIS displays or to the Suzuki C-10 gauge supplied in the USA. Operates totally differently. To get it working you will NEED the installation instructions and also the user guide. They should have been supplied to you by the dealer.

This gauge does NOT use the engine interface cable!!!! It is the international gauge supplied to all countries other than the USA. The gauge itself does the functions of the interface cable. So it doesnt need to be connected to a network to function.

However, if you want to share engine data or use GPS speed data - for example so the gauge can show mpg or kilometers per litre, you will need to connect it to a network that has a GPS.

To connect it to a network, there is a separate NMEA2000 plug on the back of the gauge.

Use a NMEA2000 drop cable from there and run it to a T piece on the network. Simple.

Note: i googled the part number you quoted and this model seems to be for a single engine using normal mechanical controls. i assume that is the motor you have - not the fly by wire model.

I noticed that you also posted the same question on The Hull Truth. Most members there are from the USA so they will not be familiar with that gauge, or may confuse it with the C-10 gauge that is supplied there, and may therefore give you misleading advice.

It is useful to tell us which state & country you are in when you post on the forum - there are regional differences like for this gauge and we may also have someone in your country we can refer you to.

Thank you for your answer. I read all the user manual. I didn't receive any installation manual.

Engine is suzuki df70 my2008.

So then its correct that i connect sds port from engine to number 2 and trim from engine to number 3?

So i must remove engine interface smis 2.8.0 from nmea network. And why then doesn't work engine temp, shift position and so many errors?

I'm from Slovenia, europe. Please help me, i'm in a little rush, because i must drive boat to the sea at the end of the month. I am willing to pay for some know how.

This gauge will NOT WORK with a 2008 year engine. Will only work with engines with a serial number later than 510001 -

Is this for sure that will not work, but it shows the rpm and trim?!

None, i bought this one. Which will work with 2008, will c10?

Suzuki does not officially support the C-10 with engines earlier than 2012, however, many people have tested it and found that it does. You would need the interface cable, the SDS adapter cable and would be best to run interface cable software version 2.5.0 or 2.30.

I checked with my local Suzuki master technician, he says the OEM Suzuki gauge you have bought will not work satisfactorily with motors earlier than 2014. Which is no doubt why you are getting numerous diagnostic errors when you try to connect it up.

But, to satisfy yourself, you should ask the dealer you bought it from and see what they say - ask them if they have successfully got it working with a 2008 year DF70. And ask them what they had to do to make it work.

Its up to you how to proceed.

Can you please explain me what is meant under *2 change sds connector? And if its main harness SDS port?

To main harness - means to connect it to the main wiring harness coming from the engine that goes to the throttle box and ignition key, and from there to the standard gauges.

*2 means that the connection from the harness at the engine end has to be changed from the analogue connector where it is most likely currently plugged in, and move it to connect to the SDS plug. This is the only way it might work.

The reason for doing this is because the engine normally sends analogue signals up to the standard dials on the dash, through the main wiring loom. Changing the plug at the engine end to the SDS plug is intended to send digital NMEA2000 signals up to the harness plug behind the dash where the gauges would normally connect. Then connect the gauge there instead.

However, to my knowledge only engines from 2012 and newer can do this. But you could give it a try.

I doubt very much if it will ever work properly with your 2008 year engine.

In around 2011/12 I believe the Suzuki ecu's changed from a 16 bit processor to 32 bit and I think the harness wiring colours may have changed at the same time.

You are attempting to make quite old technology work with new technology......

This is why it probably wont ever work properly.

You will just have to try things yourself and see if you can figure it out, because none of us have even attempted to do what you are doing.

If i connect to main harness the guage will not powerup. If i connect them to sds port it will powerup and shows the rpm.

Which multifunction digital gauge will be good for my outboard?

I am not surprised at your results. It is just not intended for your engine. I suggest you try to send it back and get a refund if possible.

Re digital displays you could use - Se my earlier reply #6. You could try the C-10. No guarantees but people have had success on earlier motors, I am told.

Also, a Suzuki SMIS (same as Lowrance LMF400.) would work, with the correct software. They are mono, not colour.

A good option if you have a Lowrance or Simrad MFD such as a HDS, Elite Ti, GO7 or NSS, you could display engine data on that. Use the engine interface cable and adapter, and connect it all up via the NMEA2000 network. I have this done on my boat, works well.

Ok, if i buy C10 gauge... C10 is for US market, is it possible to change from Miles to Kilometers?
