finally got the project boat in the water after 3 months of work rewiring, refitting and refinishing...1991 offshore 21 center console with a 1998 dt200...
engine is running like a top...spent about 3 hours on the water with everything from extended low idling in gear to near wide open throttle runs...flawless in every respect...
then I went home...hooked up the muffs and turned the key to flush the engine...a loud snap crackle pop of breaking metal followed by a short crank no start no spark...wtf?...
I pop the cowl off and find the flywheel spit a magnet and totaled the stator...now I feel lucky that this didn't happen out in the gulf....but it was quite a surprise after the flawless running today...
so I am in search of a used flywheel of magnet kit and a stator...anyone have any outlets?...the searches I have done on ebay have revealed more incorrectly labelled parts than anything else...
appreciate any advice anyone has for me...on a good note....the flywheel popped pretty easily with some pressure from a puller and a light hammer tap...I never expected that....
