  • DF175 Weight

Has Suzuki increased the weight of the DF175? How did the weight go from 464 lbs. in 2012 to 512 lbs. for the current year 20" shaft?

Yes you are right. The weight of all 150, 175 and 200 hp, all 2.9 liter 4 cyl, models went up about the amount you indicate. The weight of the 225 went up a similar amount.

NADA Marine lists the weight of outboard models in their new and used motor value listings. For 2017 Suzuki outboards they still show the old weights. But they don't always have the correct info, though usually they are pretty good.

I wonder what they changed in the outboards, or if it could be a change in assumptions with no real change in the motor weight, like it now includes the weight of the propeller, or the oil or both.

      Thanks for the reply.

I was also wondering if they actually increased the weight or if it is a correction to the actual weight that should have been reported. If the later.... that makes the 2.9 liter one of the heaviest 4 cylinder outboard engines. It weighs more than most of the competitors V6 engines in the 200 to 250 HP range!

I asked Suzuki customer service what was up. I was told that nothing was different or changed on the outboards showing increased weight. They just changed the way they were weighed. Old weight was dry, new weight has all fluids and prop.
