Please accept our sincere appreciation for your feedback re our Idle issue on DF 175 (2400) Hrs, You were right on, we had a faulty I A C component (expensive little guy) got lucky and picked up two for $200. by Buddy also picked up a spare on E Bay for $100:

Has anyone come up with trouble free ours we can expect on these engines that has been well taken care of ???. I have been meaning to run the question by Suzuki. I have heard of some up to 6000 hours on some engines in Mexico that are on little ( Panga) rental or charter boats.

There are many, many varibales as you would know that affect the number of hours these engine can last.

Ive heard of commercial operators here running DF140's that regularly get over 8000 hours on them with just the usual maintenance. Motors are used daily for many hours of course. Always getting fresh fuel. One I heard of had 120000 hours and was still running fine - and Suzuki here took it back as a trade, stripped it down and concluded that it was still fine. I think they put new rings in it and sold it on to a recreational fisher and gave him 12 months warranty!

In many ways, i think that the more regularly the engines are used, the better they last. In the typical recreational use setting where 100hrs/year is the upper end, they should last us 10 years if well maintained and fresh clean fuel used.

Glad to hear that you fixed your idle problem. Keep up the good work on those two 175s, and they should give you many more hours.
